Sustainability Communication Strategy, Sustainability Report and Video
Background
Secto Design, which manufactures modern lighting classics from Finnish birch, wanted to clarify how it communicates its sustainability and to compile its sustainability work into a report for the first time. There was a great deal of material, including the results of the first life cycle assessment (LCA), and the goal was to communicate complex matters in an understandable way in Secto Design’s clear style. The key sustainability topics were also to be summarized in a video.
What we did
Based on the life cycle assessment and interviews, we identified the themes and key messages for sustainability communication and built the sustainability report concept around them. We structured, edited and wrote parts of the report texts. We designed the visual identity, graphics and layout in line with the client’s brand guidelines. For this publication, the factory photoshoot was planned as part of the project.
We filmed a video about Secto Design’s sustainability at the factory, which we scripted and designed. Photography and editing were handled by Fredrik Bäckman, and still photography by Uzi Varon.

Insight
In a sustainability report, the essence of the brand can be reflected even in small details. Since Secto Design’s lamps are handcrafted in Finland and convey quality, precision and care, the texts and visual identity were refined with equal attention together with the client.
